Pseudogout

Anyone else in here suffer from Pseudogout ? Part of my back troubles is the buildup of calcium deposits in my spine. If anyone has it, I'd like to know what meds you take for it.

Thanks,

Dick

I do not have any answers for you but am interested on how you got diagnosed. My first xrays showed that I have excessive calcium in my spine.

Thanks for the reply. About 3 years ago, I blew my knee out just going up the stairs. The OS did a scope of the knee to repair the damage and took a color picture of the inside of my knee. It was full of calcium deposits. They looked like rows of eggs. Anyway, he sent me for a set of full body X-rays and found I had deposits in my knees, spine, shoulders, and neck. He said I had "an abused body" in a nice way.
Its called Pseudogout because the symptoms appear to be like gout but its not diet related. I take Dicolfenac for it and was wondering if there was something better.

I was just reading about Pseudogout. It sounds terrible. How badly does it hurt?

Cervical myelopathy, 15 surgeries to date, Severe OA, bilateral knee replacements, DDD, 13 MRI’s, 4 sets of spinal cortisone procedures and dozens of cortisone shots in other areas for OA. Upcoming scheduled surgeries include laminectomy and removal of synovial cyst located at left facet joint of L4-L5 (may require fusion); Right resection of A-C joint (left was done 12 years ago, by far the most painful of all my surgeries)

Ouch

Ya, it is terrible. Thank God when a flare-up occurs, its only in one area. The flare-up can last a few weeks and then mysteriously disappears.

Flurbiprofen

I take this for my arthritis and it works pretty well. I have taken the dicolfenac in the past but it was full of sodium which makes me swell terribly. I have also taken mobic but the flurbiprofen works much better.
