I've been suffering with chronic lower back pain for several years now. In 1992 I had a lamenectomy at L3/4 and recovered well for about 14 years,then about four years ago I had a car acc. which worsened my back. I now have herniations at ,L3/4/5, deg. disk disease,stenosis and severe nerve compression which has cut feeling and control to most of my lower body. I'm now waiting to see when or if my Dr's will rush me in for surgery. When I do have surg. I'll have fusion at two levels and decompression of nerves.

First off Welcome to Spine Health and second, best wishes for a great outcome!
Do you have someone else at home to assist you for a few weeks after surgery? Heck with your current condition do you have someone there to assist you now?

I'm really glad to hear that your wife is there to help out. If she has any questions about what to do or expect, she is welcome to join us too. We have many spouses and partners here getting information and support for themselves.

no I have'nt, I was at the Dr's about 4 days ago so hopefully they'll make a decision next week.

Duh ... I forgot it is the weekend! Sorry about that, I had one of those "senior moments". Not enough coffee yet this morning!
Please make sure that if you lose control of your bowels and bladder that you have your wife take you to the ER right away and don't wait for them to call you next week.
Just keep a watchful eye on your condition!
