Neck Pain: Cervical
bone spurs

Hi,I'm having terrible neck pain that goes down into my right arm. I'm also having migraines daily, I don't know if that has anything to do with my neck pain or not, since I've had them for most of my life.

But for you that have bone spurs what have you done to relive some of the pain in your neck? it hurts so bad it just makes me sick all over.

I also have back issues but that's a whole other topic so I won't go there.

Blessings to you all!

Cindy

Migraines

Definitely could be related to your neck issues. Have you seen a spine specialist about this?

Besides the obvious ice and heat therapy, using tens unit sometimes helps. Maybe you could ask your doctor to prescribe one for you. I used to wear mine for hours every day just to help me get through. I also used those therawrap heat packs and would drape from my neck down my scapula. They are activated by your own body heat and stay warm for about 8 hours. This helped immensely when trying to work, but of course nothing took the pain completely away. What kind of meds has your doctor prescribed, and what is the plan of treatment for you? Have you tried epidural steroid injections?

By the way, I love your name!

Feb 2006 did something really stupid and injured my neck. After all sorts of conservative treatments, I had a 3 level ACDF C5 to T1. Complications from that surgery led to partial paralysis and a long battle to get back to where I am today. Unfortunately, I did not fuse correctly. May 08 I had a revision to the surgery, including both the anterior and posterior approach, 2 vertebrectomies, and much titanium in my neck. I am still taking it day by day as I learn to deal with the residual effects of the spinal cord injury and permanent nerve damage. I'm here to offer support and encouragement to all the newcomers. Feel free to PM me if you want to.

RE: Bone Spurs

Hi there!

I have a bone spur impinging on my C-6 Nerve Root tha is causing severe pain in my left arm. So far the doctor only has me on Tramadol and Lyrica. I don't really think these are doing much. If it gets worse I'm going to go back and have her give me something stronger.

I have never had migranes so I couldn't say anything on that issue.

Hope you get the relief you need soon!

bone spurs

Thanks for your replys. yes I've tried pt, deep muscle massage, which helped at the time, but pain came right back sometimes was worse. as for epidural steroid injections I had one for my lower back and it didn't help at all, infact it made it worse. I haven't consider having one for my neck due to the fact the other one was of waste of time and money.

I'm calling the neurologist that I see for my migraines to see if there might, just might be one more thing that might work. I've tried alot of meds with no luck. I started having migraines when I was around 11, that's when I found out I had temporal lobe epilepsy, which lasted for 25 years. I had brain surgery in 2002 and have remained seizure FREE!

Thanks again,

Cindy
