OfflineHi friends....its been awhile since I have posted here. I have been dealing with SI problems for over two years now.I started having ESI's in Feb. of this year, and have gotten a little bit of relief...but then the pain is back as usual. Because I often have saddle anesthesia also, which means I have pain and go numb in the areas of my bottom that make contact with whatever I sit on, and sometimes in my vaginal area when I walk...I am scheduled for a pudendal nerve block on Thursday, 8-21.....my question is about the procedure. I was told it is different from ESI'S...and will be done in radiology with CT guidance at the hospital I am being treated at. How is a "block" different from an epidural, is the numbing medicine going to wear off quickly? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

that I have had were GREAT at first because I was soooo numb. But unfortunately they did not last long. Everyone is different and maybe you will be one of the lucky ones.

The fact that you were so numb sounds great!...but before you were given numbing meds...was it very painful to have the doc poking on your nerves??? I am under the impression that the radiologist performing this Ct guided pudendal nerve block is going to be trying to duplicate my pain before I get the numbing agent injected. Is this true? I have had several ESI'S that were really painful with no sedation. I just can't keep doing this to myself. Appreciat your reply.
